October29thSteve SpearThe history of Bristol, the birth of the city and its growth into a major sea port. The talk explores Bristol’s rich history dating back to the Anglo-Saxon period. N.B. This event takes place at The Hub in Mulberry Park.
November19thStuart BurroughsThe Spirit of Dark Water: the Supernatural and the Saving of Britain’s Canals. How an eccentric and dedicated group of writers, playwrights, mechanics, naval personnel and an unsuccessful ballet dancer helped establish the first mass preservation movement in Britain – the Inland Waterways Association – in 1946. With added ghosts and Bath-related content!
