Wednesday evening events

On Wed 17th April, we will be holding our Annual General Meeting. All members are cordially invited – please do come and make sure we have a good attendance at your society’s AGM.

Following the AGM, we will have our third talk of 2024, entitled Local History Alphabet, given by Stuart Burroughs. Stuart will share the Museum of Bath at Work’s Local History Alphabet in recognition of the theme for World Heritage Day 2024.

The International Day for Monuments and Sites also known as World Heritage Day is an international observance held on April 18th, with different types of activities, including visits to monuments and heritage sites, conferences, round tables and newspaper articles. World Heritage Day was proposed by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) and adopted by UNESCO during its 22nd General Conference in 1983.

The aim is to promote awareness about the diversity of cultural heritage of humanity, their vulnerability and the efforts required for their protection and conservation. World Heritage brings together exceptional cultural sites that belong to all humankind, such as the pyramids of Egypt, the city of Venice, the Taj Mahal and Combe Down.

The talk will take place as usual in the Combe Down Primary School Hall in Summer Lane, BA2 5JX. The talk itself starts at 7.30pm, and the doors are open from 7.00pm. CDHS Members £1. Non-members are very welcome at the talk; entrance is £3. All tickets on the door.
